2021 Interns
Margaret Orr
Margaret Orr is a PhD student in the George Mason University Department of Communication. Her research interests include climate change misinformation and inoculation theory. She received her MS in Geography in 2018 from the University of Georgia, with a thesis topic in climate change concern psychology. Margaret also holds a BS in Meteorology & Climatology, with a minor in French, from the University of Delaware. Margaret’s passions outside of her work include ice dance and coaching skating classes, as well as ballet, tap, and ballroom dance, hiking, and eating tacos.

Shannon Stanforth
Shannon Stanforth recently graduated from
the University of Dayton with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and minors in Biology, Fine Arts, and Sustainability. She is interested in the overlap between the fields of design and the environment and feels that design can be utilized to spur positive social and environmental action. At UD, she had the opportunity to write and illustrate a children’s book aimed at fostering a relationship between children and nature. Additionally, she served as Marketing Chair for Sustainability
Club, promoted campus sustainability initiatives
through the Sustainability Activation Program, and engaged with Dayton’s watershed and rivers through the Fitz Center for Leadership in Community’s Rivers Institute. She loves all things related to water (especially manatees) and enjoys kayaking, hiking, figure skating, art, and running.
Samantha Ye
Samantha Ye is a recent graduate from Colorado State University with BAs in Journalism & Media Communications and Economics plus a minor
in Ethnic Studies. She worked as student news reporter and editor during her undergraduate career, exercising her passion for sharing issues
of public importance. She has often covered issues of local environmental policy and social equity. In this 4C internship, she's excited to synthesize existing climate change projects for
the National Parks Service. Her other activities
this summer will include spending too much
time on Twitter and journaling.
Yiwen Zhao
Yiwen Zhao is a rising senior at Lake Braddock Secondary School. He grew up in Fairfax, VA,
and always had a passion for environmental preservation. He enjoys visiting parks near him and wants to help keep them healthy. Through the 4C/NPS program, he hopes to help further educate others on the effects of climate change, and make them more aware of the more localized issues. After completing the internship he plans on going on to college, though his major is still undecided.
Ganesh Rayavarapu
Ganesh is a rising junior at Chantilly High School. His interests include physics, computer science, and environmental science. He contributed to the 4C site by including various content and articles related to climate change impacts. Ganesh is part of his school’s chess club, debate team, and Math Honor Society. In his free time, he likes to play video games and ride his bike.
